About Me

Hello Visitor,

I’m Jennifer Morris, a mental health counselor practicing in Southfield, Michigan. My professional journey began in undergrad with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. I then went on to Chicago for a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. In graduate school, I specialized in multicultural counseling, more specifically, Latino mental health. Given the diverse population in Chicago, I have gained experience working with many different cultural backgrounds, thus recognize the importance of family, community, heritage, and values as they relate to the human mind and behavior. In my second year of graduate school I interned for 9 months at Community Mental Health Centers of Chicago (C4), working with children, teens, and adults in both English and Spanish languages. Throughout my life I have had the privilege to study abroad in both Madrid, Spain, and Northern England, both serving as valuable experiences for learning about challenging thought processes and observing cultural differences.

After finishing my Master’s degree in counseling, I worked for 1.5 years at a therapeutic high school in the suburbs of Chicago. I gained many experiences with high school students ages 13-19 from various cultural backgrounds, as well as LGBT identifiers. I then decided to return home to Michigan to be closer to family and have been working in the Metro-Detroit area since that time, including private practice, partial day hospital program, and college counseling at Wayne State University (CAPS). I have been providing outpatient therapy in the Southfield community since 2015 and feel very privileged each day I get to help clients along on their healing journeys. Each session is an honor for me to be able to share in each client’s greatest joy, pain, fear, and unique outlook. One thing is certain, both client and counselor learn a great deal from each other on the path to emotional healing.
